Meet Bambi!

Our dear Bambi is expecting again! She's a wonderful mother and a cherished member of the Wells family. We're all eagerly awaiting the arrival of her new kids.

Last time, she surprised us all with four beautiful kids! It was a bit of an adventure; three were born without a hitch, but the last little one needed some extra encouragement to get going. With a little help, they all thrived!

Fun Farm Facts!

Ever heard the saying "Left is Lunch, Right is Runt"? It's a classic farmer's trick for checking on a pregnant goat!

Left is Lunch ๐Ÿฅช

A goat's biggest stomach compartment, the rumen, sits on her left side. It's always busy digesting her lunch!

Right is Runt ๐Ÿ

This means the babies have all the space on the right side to grow. That's where we check for kicks!

Boy or Girl? Check the Horns! ๋ฟ”

Did you know sex can be determined in kid goats by looking at the base of the horns? A larger, wider horn base usually means it's a boy, and a thinner, more narrow horn base means it's a girl.

Goat Glossary: Talk Like a Farmer!

Nanny: A mama goat, the queen of her kids.
Kid: A baby goat, full of bounces and bleats.
Herd: A whole family of goats hanging out together.
Bleat: The special "Maaa!" sound a goat makes to chat.
Frolic: To jump and play around like only a happy kid can.
Milk: The fresh, creamy drink a nanny makes for her babies.
Hoof: A goat's tough little foot, perfect for climbing.
Horns: The pointy growths on a goat's head for protection and showing off.
Udder: The bag-like organ where a nanny stores milk.
Browse: To nibble on tasty leaves, twigs, and shrubs.
Pasture: A big, grassy field that's both a playground and a buffet.
Cud: A goat's re-chewed food, like chewing gum made of grass.
Hay: Dried grass that makes a delicious and cozy meal.
Kidding: The special time when a nanny gives birth to her kids.
Climb: A goat's favorite hobby; they can scale almost anything!
Beard: The stylish fluff of hair on a goat's chin.
Barn: A cozy house for goats to sleep in and stay dry.
Twin: When a nanny has two adorable kids at once.
Triplet: A triple dose of cuteness; three kids born at the same time!
Quadruplets: A quadruple dose of cuteness; four kids born at the same time!
Forage: The adventure of searching for the yummiest plants to eat.
Headbutt: A playful (or serious!) bonk on the head.
Wean: When a kid is old enough to stop drinking milk and eat solid food.
Rumen: The first and largest part of a goat's amazing four-part stomach.
Wattle: The dangly, fleshy bits hanging from some goats' necks.
Jump: A happy leap into the air, often for no reason at all.
Shelter: A safe, simple place to hide from the sun or rain.
Doe: Another name for a female goat, or nanny.
Grain: A special, crunchy treat that goats love.
Trough: A long container that holds food or water for the herd.
Chรจvre: A fancy name for the soft, yummy cheese made from goat's milk.
